After our meeting, which bizarrely took place in the tour guides bedroom, we set off fo Chinatown.
Unlike New York, where Chinatown is a whole neighbourhood, in Washington it is a crossroads. We didn't see anything we liked and ended up going to Hooters.
It was a great, all American meal. A pitcher of Coors, mozeralla sticks and fried pickles to start.
Followed by a burger and fries.
The waitresses wore very little, I didn't know where to look, but I knew where not to look!
The meal passed without me getting into trouble so gaze aversion strategy worked well.
We did feel we got the whole American Diner experience there.
Sunday began with a trip to Arlington Cemetery on the Washington Subway.
After New York this was a remarkably peaceful place and having studied his assassination for so long, to see his final resting place was the right thing to do.
Then we decided to walk back to the hotel, in the midday sun.
First stop was a local diner for breakfast.
Mmm.
Then Alison had discovered there was a canal in DC.
What choice did we have?
And the sight of a former aqueduct over the Potomac.
Shame.
Then we visited a place of more scandal
Before finding a very friendly watering hole with a huge choice of beers and a very friendly barman.
We wandered back past the north side of the White House.
And up the Mall to the Capitol Building
Before finally getting back to the hotel.
Another long day. Time to choose where to go for dinner tonight now.
Maybe we will get to a museum tomorrow, we shall see.
