The Big Sleep (if only)

At dinner we studied the iPhone map as we were a good 5 hours into our journey. The blue dot is where we are. It's a long way to Chicago.

The meal we had was lovely, if a little cold. It filled us up. Then it was back to our roomette to sleep. Well to dream. Well, to dream about sleeping. Hey ho, we got a couple of hours if we are optimistic.

Two hours late into Chicago we finally disembarked at 10:30 central time, we are now another hour behind the UK.

Here is our train.

And here is a picture of a most magnificent station.

Then we were onto the coach for the obligatory sight seeing tour.

Unfortunately it is raining so slightly blurry pictures.

The Seers tower disappeared into the low clouds.

It's the dark one on the right.

Then onto the scene of a former Chicago garage which became infamous on Feb 14th 1929. It was between the trees and the building on the left.

After we got dropped off at our hotel we walked to the Hancock building which is free to go up if you buy a beer at the top.
In the new colloquialisms we are picking up, this is a no brainer.

Here us a building we saw on the way.

And here is the same building viewed from the 96th floor of the Hancock building, followed by other views of Chicago.

And this is the building from below.

We saw an amazing sight on the road crossing afterwards, just poking through the Tarmac. Other tourists must have missed it as I was the only one to stop in the middle of the road and photograph it :-).

Now we have come to

The home of the deep pan pizza. It's an hours wait so blog writing time.
