Mor Monday Adventures.

This morning we had breakfast in our hotel room, which we had purchased from the local supermarket after the rodeo last night. Well one of us had breakfast, the fridge in our room had been so powerful that mine had frozen solid :-(.

One well fed and one grumpy honeymooner then travelled South East out of Colorado and firstly into Utah.

We passed the Chinese Hat rock formation.

And then we stopped for coffee at Twin Rocks. This is also the site of the remains of Bluff Fort, used when fighting on the frontier. Now it is settled by Mormons.

We are going to be on the coach for about eight hours today. Lots of views of desert so far!

Next stop was Gooseneck Canyon.
The map below shows where we have travelled from Durango.

Then we did a quick photo stop at the Mexican Hat rock, unfortunately we were quite a way from it so this is on full zoom.

Then we came to the road where Forrest Gump finally stopped running.
Monument Valley is in the background.

Next stop wes Redlands viewing area. This is what we viewed.

And then to Gouldings for lunch, right in the middle of monument valley. We had brought supermarket sandwiches with us and we sat in the 100F heat eating them. The view was this.

We then drove through miles of desert, the home of the Navajo Indians and past lots of their settlements.

Final stop of the day was the Cameron Trading Post.
This is run by Navajo people and the profits they make are shared amongst the whole tribe. It had started raining by this time so I didn't get any photos but a quick look on google will tell you about this place.
We decided to treat ourselves to a genuine Stetson each. They were the most expensive hats in the shop but our coach driver Jeff wandered over whilst we were trying them on and offered to buy them for us as he gets 50% discount.
Sold!
We have booked an optional trip tomorrow as the weather forecast is bad and our hotel is a couple of miles out of Flagstaff. Hopefully it'll be better than walking along a main road in the rain.
Our current altitude is 7000 feet, all the waiters keep assuring me food has less calories at this height. I hope they are telling the truth.
