The ecstasy and the agony.

Hooters was delicious again last night. It really is the whole American experience.
We had shrimps and boneless chicken wings as well as another pitcher of beer.

This morning we decided to try another full American experience with a McDonald's breakfast.

Thoroughly enjoyed and different to the uk. The restaurant was full of the local wildlife and we partook of a great deal of people watching before agreeing this would be our last McDonald's meal of the trip. We shall see.

We had to meet at the hotel at 2:00 so only half a day to fill. Firstly we went to see a very famous theatre, the Ford's theatre.

We had a great talk about the assassination of president Lincoln, and even better, it's all free in the USA.

No sign of Mulder and Scully, but this is where they worked.

We then went to the Smithsonian.

This was like a scene from Airplane.

Then we found a Rolls-Royce RB-211. My dad will have worked on this during his 40 years at the company.

As time approached 1:30 we set off back to meet our group. At the station we had an hour to wait. On our map we had seen a reference to Street Cars, as as a notoriously impatient waiter I was given LOA to investigate.

The ecstasy: look what I found.

And then the agony, read the notice.

Finally onto our train for the 16 hour journey to Chicago.

Here is our room.

We are currently in the observation car, with three hours to wait for dinner. At least we brought our beers with us and aren't paying $6 for a soft drink sized can.

Not sure how we will sleep, there are stops through the night. We will find out!

Here we are avoiding John Wilkes-Booth.
