Way out west

Last night we finally arrived in Grand Junction to temperatures into the 30s

Grand Junction is called a city but really is a relatively small town.

First stop was the local liquor store and then on to

It's a wonderful pub which yet again brews it's own beers.

We made friends with Zane, born and bred locally and a real cowboy. He told us about the capsules for the London Eye being made here.
We weren't hungry so had a liquid tea and consequently slept soundly.

Today we have travelled to Durango.

This is where we started.

We are on a coach all morning.

First sight seeing stop was this.

Then we drove to a Western Town called Ouray.

We had time to go to a wonderful coffee shop for a drink and to visit the restroom.

Then it was back on the coach and a drive through Red Mountain pass at 11000 feet.

Here are some of the views enroute.

At lunchtime we arrived at Silverton. We are going to ride the Durango and Silverton narrow gauge steam railway this afternoon.

The train was already in town. The station is just the middle of the Main Street.

Silverton is a mining town and is typical Wild West. They still have wooden pavements too.

We found a saloon for lunch, and guess what, they brew their own beer.

We had a delicious wrap each.

Then this came past.

Here it is stationary.

We went for our train but it hadn't arrived yet.

So we went to the fudge shop.

Soon they backed our train into the street.

Here are the pictures from the journey.

We stopped for water

And then rode along a very high piece of track.

Once in Durango it was quickly off to the local Rodeo.

A quick burger for tea so we could enjoy the action.

A very full day today. Off through Arizona tomorrow.
