Long live the Queen part 1

We had a two hour wait in Flagstaff before the train was due so time to find some food. We went here

And ordered local food and beer.

We had to take this number plate to our table which was our order number.

Then our food arrived.

Alison had shredded pork with a hot dog sausage and sweet potato fries. I had beef with garlic fries. Mmm mmm yet again.
We finished with time to spare before the train and found the state bar which only serves Arizona beers,

But what a choice.

We dutifully tried one or two.

At 10:30 I got an email with the gcse results. My class did ok, disappointed with the number of A* grades but delighted with the girls who got an A. The Further Maths results were particularly pleasing given the challenging conditions under which they were taught.

This morning I woke up at 6:30. We were still two hours out of LA. I rang Sam and found out his GCSE results.

We were met at the station by our coach and started our tour.
First sight was City Hall which doubled as the Daily Plenet in Superman.

We didn't go into LA but saw the skyline from the coach.

The bus was heading to here. You may need to zoom in.

We had a walk along the walk of fame and I spotted two English stars.

Then we went to the Chinese Theater.

The following seemed significant this week.

This original 1930s Theater is right across Hollywood Boulevard from where they hold the Oscars.

And here are the famous steps where the  stars are photographed.

This is a picture of Hollywood Boulevard.

There are still one or two blank stars. You can see who my star musician would be next to the Gershwins.

Next stop was here.

And the we turned from Santa Monica Boulevard onto Rodeo Drive.

Before passing

The building on the right of the next photo is where Die Hard was filmed.

Eventually tonight's hotel came into view.

And it's only lunchtime!
