It is amazing inside. We are in a former first class cabin.
The bath has 4 taps, 2 for normal water and 2 for salt water.
We set off to explore the ship, which is about 25% bigger than the Titanic.
We are certainly not disappointed with this hotel.
We took plenty more pictures but on cameras, whereas all the blog pictures have to be the ones it take on my phone whilst we are away with no laptop.
Next we had a guided tour of the ship.
This is the first class lounge. It's three floors high.
This is the dining room. The map on the wall has two movable ships to show the positions of the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth.
Then we got a tour of the engine room. Unfortunately for this blog I spent so much time talking to the guide I didn't get any pictures.
They have fitted an underwater light and made an access ramp so you can see a propellor. Originally she had four but the others have been removed as a condition of the sale to Long Beach is that she will never sail again.
The rudder is three floors high (remember the height of the first class lounge?).
They have this huge cutaway model of Titanic.
This is the view you get when boarding.
If you zoom in you might spot this hooligan leaning out of his cabin.
Next we decided to go on the free bus into Long Beach.
The man who got on at the stop after us asked for Rock Bottom Brewery.
We got off at the same stop.
Inside was this
Of course we had to sample their drink and food.
As we have a twelve hour train journey to San Francisco tomorrow we asked directions to a supermarket for provisions.
On the way I got a couple of photos.
Then back to the ship and a drink in the bar.
It was deigned to look like a giant beer keg.
We sat out on deck which was lovely. I took two photos, with and without flash, to illustrate this.
It feels like another world here and we are a long way from home.
I did however discover another amazing beer.
Tomorrow's post should be a lot shorter as it is all day on the train. My typing finger hopes so!
