They recommended, for the genuine American experience a diner called Country Host, which turned out to be a Porky's Bar.
They had a good beer choice.
and it was just like we had seen on TV.
Alison had blackened salmon,
And I had homemade meatloaf. We both had home fried and refried beans, whatever they are.
It was absolutely delicious yet again, and we were the only members of the party brave enough to wander out of the hotel to try new experiences.
I insisted the waitress checked my id, as she'd never seen a British driving licence before. In return she showed us an Arizona one. They are in portrait orientation when under 21 and landscape when over 21 making it easy to check before selling alcohol.
She took this for us.
Today it is raining. It is raining hard.
There are about half the tour party going on the optional trip to Montezuma's Castle and the town of Sedona.
This is where we are.
The drive to the castle was about 40 miles and we descended 3000 feet on the way.
Montezuma's Castle was very badly named. It's actually where the Sinagua Indians lived about 800 years ago in rock houses. A bit like Kinver but colder today!
After this the coach took us to Sedona. As you can see, the cloud cover was very low.
At Sedona we went to Canyon Breeze restaurant.
As we are the nearest to Mexico we will ever be we chose Mexican food.
I ordered chimichanga and Al had enchiladas. We got a device to take to our table which would buzz when our food was ready.
This is the view from our table.
It did buzz and this arrived.
Mmm mmm.
We managed to take a picture of Snoopy rock, can you spot it?
The drive back was picturesque even in the rain and eventually we got above the clouds climbing back up the 3000 feet.
We are now back at the hotel (which is so huge the bus had to take us from reception to our room) and about to do their 2 mile nature walk.
Tonight it is a group meal. I hope I don't get sat next to the freakshow!
Grand Canyon tomorrow, hope the sun comes back.
